Advantages of a Gated Community

Advantages of a Gated Community

A gated community also known as walled community is a neighborhood that uses one or more gates to control access in and out of the community. Gated communities may have security guards stationed at the gates full time or video security that records the license plates of everyone who enters or leaves the neighborhood. Below are the merits of living in gated communities;

Provide high sense of security and control.

 Main advantage a gated community has is providing high security and control to the residents. Research shows that gated communities are safer compared to the non- gated ones. It is so because security of the community is not compromised at the gate thus, criminal activity is minimized significantly.

 Only verified residents and guests can enter the community. There is availability of CCTV cameras for 24/7 surveillance, electronic fences, intercom systems and so on. Other walled communities are manned at the gate by security guards.

Privacy.
Generally, we have less traffic going through at all times. Not only does this make the entire community quieter, but also safer for the families with kids. Thanks to the reduced traffic because children can play in the yard and even on the street comfortably.

People may want to look for a shortcut through a neighborhood when they hit the rush hour. Fixed gates with proper surveillance makes this impossible for them. No random cars can get into the neighborhood. This means the entire neighborhood is quieter and safer for you and your family hence, providing sense of privacy.

Sense of Community

Gated communities often facilitate neighborhood parties, as well as sports, social entertainment and educational groups which foster a sense of community. It's easy to make friends and find things to do during the day and be active both physically and socially.

Availability of attractive features and Amenities.

Another advantage of gated communities is that they offer features and amenities that many find attractive for their quality of living and choice of style. Features such as children day care, basketball pitch and gym facilities are being required by home buyers more and more in today’s real estate market. The amenities and features in many gated communities fulfill the needs and wants of these types of home buyers.

Reduction in crime.

Residents becoming keepers of each other is one of the ways which crime is reduced in gated communities. As a matter of fact, residents here are familiar with each other. Consequently, it is a family form of relationship that exists among them. With such bond built, it is easier for residents to raise alarm should there be an instance of crime.
